Joel Carp is senior vice president for community services and government relations of the Jewish Federation/Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago. He has spent his career in social work, social planning, and advocacy in the Jewish community, and has been dedicated to sustaining comprehensive health and human services for Jewish and non-Jewish individuals, including refugees and immigrants. Mr. Carp was the recipient of the Melvin A. Block Award for Professional Distinction from the Associated YM-YWHAs of Greater New York, and he also received the city of Chicago's Commission on Human Relations Award. He is a member of numerous local, state, and national professional and community service organizations, and has served on various governmental task forces, including the city of Chicago Mayor's Task Force on Hunger. His work with the Illinois Department of Human Services includes service on the Governor's Families and Children Leadership Sub-Cabinet.
