David Ormstedt is a member of the Government Oversight and Self-Regulation Work Group.
David Ormstedt is counsel to the firm of Wiggin and Dana LLP in Hartford, Connecticut, concentrating on tax-exempt organization law. He has over three decades of counseling on and litigating matters involving public charities, private foundations, charitable trusts, and charitable estates. Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Mr. Ormstedt was assistant attorney general in charge of the Public Charities Unit of the Connecticut Attorney General. He is a founding member of the National Association of State Charity Officials and served three terms as its president. He has served on numerous advisory committees for national rule makers, including the Internal Revenue Service Exempt Organizations Division, the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. Mr. Ormstedt was one of the first recipients of the Marvin Award, given by the National Association of Attorneys General in recognition of his leadership, expertise, and achievement in advancing the organization's goals. He holds bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Connecticut.
